Boxscore

Junior Marc Sciulli (Pittsburgh, Pa./Central Catholic) scored twice as the Allegheny College men’s soccer team handed Hiram College a 5-0 loss in North Coast Athletic Conference action at Robertson Field on Wednesday afternoon. The game was the Gators first since a 3-1 loss to Ohio Wesleyan on September 27, an 11-day layoff.

Sciulli scored his first goal on a breakaway set up by a long pass from the foot of sophomore Erik Johnson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) at the 10:25 mark of the first half. Sciulli made it a 2-0 Gator lead just under seven minutes later when he banged home a rebound from a Ben Montgomery (McMurray, Pa./Peter’s Township).

The Gators (7-2-1, 2-1-0 NCAC) continued to pull away as junior Josh Johnson (Murrysville, Pa./Franklin Regional) scored his fifth goal of the season at 21:50. Freshman Mark Dobish (New Wilmington, Pa./New Wilmington) notched his first career goal with 3:08 left in the first half on an assist from Duffy Dunnigan (Getzville, N.Y./Williamsville) to make it 4-0 at the half.

Senior Derek Segesdy (Shaker Heights, Ohio/Shaker Heights) capped the scoring at the 61:15 mark when he headed home a cross by senior Colin Redman (Pittsburgh, Pa./Upper St. Clair).

Allegheny outshot the visiting Terriers (1-10-1, 0-4 NCAC), 25-5, in the contest. Dan Kraus (Canton, Ohio/Glenoak) made 10 saves in net for Hiram.

Allegheny will host Kenyon on Saturday, October 11, in a 1:00 p.m. contest at Robertson Field.
