Gators Roll to Seventh Straight Win

Teresa Lettrich (Allison Park, Pa./Shady Side Academy) scored twice as the Allegheny College women’s soccer team stretched their win streak to seven games with a 3-1 win over Earlham at a muddy Robertson Field on Saturday afternoon. The Gators improve to 8-1-1 overall and 3-0 in the North Coast Athletic Conference with the win while the Quakers fall to 5-6-1 overall.
Allegheny fell behind in the first half as Angelique Owanga scored for the Quakers at the 34:06 mark. Despite outshooting Earlham, 9-2, Allegheny found themselves trailing.
However, Jill Malone (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) found the equalizer at the 68:41 mark of the game, her second goal of the season. Lettrich then put the Gators ahead with 4:37 left in the game and she put the game away with a goal with just five second left.
The Gators outshot Earlham, 20-3, in the contest. Cassie Byrd had 11 saves for Earlham.
Allegheny travels to Oberlin on Wednesday, October 8, for a 4:30 p.m. kickoff against the Yeowomen.
