Allegheny Win Streak At Six With 2-1 Win Over Denison

Leah Karpa (West Mifflin, Pa./West Mifflin) had both goals as Allegheny College defeated Denison, 2-1, in North Coast Athletic Conference women’s soccer action on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Gators extend their win streak to six games and their unbeaten streak to seven.

Allegheny was outshot in the contest, 14-11, but came up with six saves, four by starter Beth Van Parys (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) and two by Joan Anderson (Holt, Mich./Holt).

Karpa netted the Gators first goal at the 10:15 mark on an assist from Jill Malone (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area), giving Allegheny an early 1-0 lead. Maria Robert answered for Denison just 4:05 later, but Karpa put the Gators ahead for good with an unassisted goal at the 31:20 mark of the first half.

Allegheny hosts Earlham next Saturday, October 4, at 1:00 p.m.
