Bilec’s Overtime Score Lifts Allegheny Over Kenyon, 1-0

Sep 23, 2003

Sophomore Jen Bilec (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) scored at the 100:48 mark on a blast from well outside the goal box to lift Allegheny College to a 1-0 win over Kenyon College in North Coast Athletic Conference women’s soccer action on Tuesday afternoon. Allegheny, ranked fifth in the latest NSCAA/adidas® Great Lakes Region poll, improved to 6-1-1 overall and 1-0-0 in the NCAC with the win and now have a five-game winning streak.

The Gators outshot the host Ladies 27-2, but couldn’t find the net until overtime. That’s when Bilec rifled a shot from 25-yards out into the top of the net to give Allegheny the win in the sudden victory overtime.

Joan Anderson (Holt, Mich./Holt) earned the win in net. She was called upon to make just one save during the second half and overtime. Beth Van Parys (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy) made on save in the first half for Allegheny.

The Gators earned 10 corner kicks to Kenyon’s three. Emilee Kaser had nine saves in goal for Kenyon, who falls to 3-4-1 on the year.

Allegheny travels to Denison University on Saturday, September 27, for a 12:00 p.m. game.
