Women's Basketball Season Comes To A Close With Loss To Wittenberg
Feb 28, 2003 The Allegheny College women's basketball
season came to a close on Friday night with a 95-27 loss at the hands
of Wittenberg University in the semifinals of the North Coast Athletic
Conference Tournament. It is the lowest offensive output in Allegheny
women's basketball history and the second worst defeat in the program's
history.
Allegheny led early, 7-6, but Wittenberg finished the
first half on a 50-6 run and won going away. The Gators top scorer
was freshman Courtney Steding (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) with eight
points.
Kate Rolf of Wittenberg had top scoring honors for the
game with 19 points while teammate Stephanie Campbell added 12.
Allegheny finished the season with a 13-14 record despite
losing two starters, including pre-season All-America Jessica Kankosi,
in the third game of the year.
