Feb 28, 2003

The Allegheny College women's basketball season came to a close on Friday night with a 95-27 loss at the hands of Wittenberg University in the semifinals of the North Coast Athletic Conference Tournament. It is the lowest offensive output in Allegheny women's basketball history and the second worst defeat in the program's history.

Allegheny led early, 7-6, but Wittenberg finished the first half on a 50-6 run and won going away. The Gators top scorer was freshman Courtney Steding (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) with eight points.

Kate Rolf of Wittenberg had top scoring honors for the game with 19 points while teammate Stephanie Campbell added 12.

Allegheny finished the season with a 13-14 record despite losing two starters, including pre-season All-America Jessica Kankosi, in the third game of the year.
