Gators Winning Streak Snapped By Wittenberg
Feb 8, 2003 Wittenberg University snapped the
Allegheny College women's basketball team's five-game winning streak
with a convincing win, 98-45, on their home court. Allegheny (10-11,
8-4 NCAC) committed 40 turnovers and shot just 36.0 percent while
the Tigers had 27 steals and shot 51.4 percent from the field.
Wittenberg, now 17-4 overall and perfect in the NCAC
at 12-0, had four players in double figures led by Tiffany Keller
with 14. The Gators high scorer was sophomore Jackie Tubo (Altoona,
Pa./Altoona) who scored nine points on 4-5 shooting off the bench.
The Tigers streaked to a 50-17 lead at the half and
continued the dominance in the second half, outscoring the Gators
48-28 over the last 20 minutes.
Allegheny will look to put the game behind them as they
face Oberlin at home on Tuesday, February 11, at 7:30 p.m. The Gators,
who were third heading into last night's win over Hiram, beat the
Yeowomen earlier in the season by seven and are looking to secure
at least one home game in the conference playoffs with four NCAC dates
remaining.
