Gators Swept In Cold Branch Rickey Arena

Ohio, meant the lights went out several times at Branch Rickey Arena.
It also spelt lights out for the Gator women's basketball team. The
women held a 35-30 lead at halftime of their game NCAC game against
Ohio Wesleyan before being outscored by 15 in the second half to fall
70-60. Courtney Steding (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) scored a career-high
with 16 points and also added a game-high nine rebounds for the Gators
who fall to 5-10 overall and 3-3 in the conference.
Ohio Wesleyan's Kelly Heil hit on 11-of-17 shots in
the game and finished with 27 points. Teammate Erica Brizendine added
19 points ad eight boards.
Allegheny led at the half, 35-30, but the Battling Bishops
(9-6, 5- NCAC) took the lead 50-48 with 9:55 left in the game and
never looked back. The Gators were whistled for 14 fouls in the second
half as the home team took 23 free throws in the final stanza.
Kristin Kramarik (Natrona Heights, Pa./Highlands) had
12 points and five assists for Allegheny while Meredith McDonough
(Pittsburgh, Pa./Oakland Catholic) added 10 points.
The Gators shot 14 free throws to OWU's 29 in the game
and went 25-64 from the field, 39.1 percent. Ohio Wesleyan shot 46.3
percent converting on 25-of-54 shots.
Allegheny returns home on Wednesday, January 22, as
they host Wooster in conference action at the David Wise Center. Tip-off
is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
