Gators Snap Losing Skid With 74-58 Over Earlham
Jan 3, 2003 MEADVILLE, Pa. - Three players scored
in double figures as the Allegheny College women's basketball team forced
NCAC-rival Earlham into 28 turnovers and took a 74-58 win to snap a
seven-game losing skid at the David Wise Center on Friday night. Allegheny
(3-7, 1-1 NCAC) turned 28 Quaker turnovers into 23 points and had only
12 turnovers themselves.
Kristin Kramarik was the main beneficiary of 19 Gator
assists as she scored 17 to lead the team, hitting 7-of-12 shots. Courtney
Steding added 13 points and had a game-high 12 rebounds as well. Meredith
McDonough also broke into double digit scoring with an 11 point effort.
The Allegheny defense held the NCAC's second leading scorer,
Lindsey Chappell, to six points under her average. Chappell led the
Quakers with 15 points and had 10 rebounds, but she went 5-for-12 from
the field and was forced into six turnovers. Summer Cress added 14 and
Kim Patton had 12 for the Earlham (6-2, 2-1 NCAC).
Allegheny shot 39.2 percent in the game and held their
opposition to 37.8 percent shooting. Allegheny also out-rebounded the
Quakers, 44-43, including 20 offensive boards.
