Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

ARTICLE I
Definition

Section 1: Name
     The name of this organization shall be the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

Section 2: Purpose
     To advance communication between Allegheny College student-athletes, administration and faculty. To promote healthy, working relationships with the greater College community, the NCAC, NCAA, as well as the city of Meadville. To encourage and safeguard the well-being of Allegheny College student-athletes and to foster an atmosphere of good sportsmanship and cooperation between the College's teams.

ARTICLE II
Membership

Section 1:Definition
     Membership shall be open to all student-athletes, but each team will have designated representatives.

Section 2: Status & Responsibilities
     Team representatives shall consist of two members from each team. The individual sport teams will choose representatives as they see fit (team vote, coaching staff input, etc.). Men's indoor and outdoor track & field count as one sport for representation purposes (same with women's track & field).

Responsibilities of team representatives are as follows:
       a. Attend all meetings (normal exceptions apply).
       b. Appoint a substitute if not in attendance.
       c. Each designated representative may cast one ballot in any vote
              one team, two votes
       d. Nominate an athlete from their team for Athlete-of-the-Month.

ARTICLE III
Executive Committee

Section 1: Definition
     The executive committee shall consist of a President, Vice President, Secretary, and two North Coast Athletic Conference SAAC Representatives.


Section 2: Duties of Officers
     The duties of the officers shall be as follows:

     A. President shall be responsible for the following:
       a. Run the meetings/set agendas.
       b. Serve as voice of committee - ASG liaison.
       c. Meet with Athletic Director once a month.
       d. Oversee Executive Committee
       e. Call additional meetings if necessary.

     B. Vice President shall be responsible for the following:
       a. Help set agenda.
       b. Act in place of president if president is absent.
       c. Oversee subcommittees except Executive Committee.

     C. Secretary shall be responsible for the following:
       a. Type up agendas.
       b. Take meeting minutes.
       c. Send out e-mails and minutes.
       d. Keep membership list up-to-date.

     D. NCAC SAAC Representatives shall be responsible for the following:
       a. Attend Both NCAC SAAC meetings (2 Sunday's during the year)
       b. Conference liaison
       c. Two-way communication
       d. Take our concerns to conference.


Section 3: Removal of Officers
     Any officer may be impeached and removed from office if a majority of the active members vote to do so. The officer in question shall be given a sufficient reason for removal and given ample opportunity to address the charges against him/her before a formal vote for removal.

Section 4: Vacancies and Succession
     In the case of a vacancy on the executive committee, the following applies. If the office of President is vacant, the Vice President will assume the Presidency and appoint a Vice President who must be confirmed by a majority of the members. If any other executive position is vacant, the President shall appoint someone (from the current membership) with the majority of the membership confirming the appointment.

ARTICLE IV
Voting and Elections

Section 1: Voting
     Each team representative will have one vote in the election process.

Section 2: Organization of Elections
     A. A SAAC member can nominate him/herself or someone else for as many positions as they would like.
     B. Votes will start with the President and work down (Vice-President, Secretary, NCAC Reps.)
     C. A name can be placed on a lower ballot if not voted into a higher office.
     D. Each nominee will be given time at elections to campaign.

Section 3: Athlete-of-the-Month
     A. It is the responsibility of the team representatives to nominate athletes from their team.
     B. Nominations are due to the SAAC Advisory within the first 2-3 days of each new month for the previous month's performances.
     C. The Sports Information Office may write-in an athlete if there is a high-performing omission.
     D. Each team representative will have one vote in the process.
     E. May Athlete-of-the-Month and Athlete-of-the-Year will be voted on over e-mail.
     F. Team representatives may vote whether they are in season or out of season

ARTICLE V
Meetings

Section 1: Meeting Times
     A. Meetings will be held twice per month
     B. Meetings will occur on the 2nd Tuesday and 4th Friday, unless otherwise noted by school breaks.
     C. Tuesday meetings will take place from 12:30 PM to 1:15 PM.
     D. Friday meetings will take place from 12:15 PM to 1:00 PM.
