IV. New Legislation: Automatic Qualifier
Only affects golf and tennis teams
A. Institute automatic qualification for these sports
B. In team sports- if you win your conference you get an automatic bid
-this is not the case for golf and tennis
C. Arguments for:
-promotes equal access to the championship
D. Arguments against:
-Ben: he is against this legislation because our conference includes 3 of the top 10 teams. Including more teams would make the tournament virtually
impossible-too many teams on the same course or day
-Seth: many of the conferences are unequal, so some teams (ie: Grove City) would qualify and be beaten immediately
E. SAAC unanimously opposed to changing to an automatic qualifier
