Solan selected NCAC Athlete of the Week

MEADVILLE, Pa. -- Caitlin Solan (Acme, Pa./Geibel) has been named the North Coast Athletic Conference Volleyball Athlete of the Week.

The junior outside hitter totaled 19 kills, 40 digs, three blocks and three aces during the week as Allegheny won both of its conference matches last week. The Gators defeated Oberlin, 3-1, and Ohio Wesleyan, 3-0 and are tied for second place with a 7-2 NCAC record and an 11-11 overall mark.

The team's 11 wins already equals the total number of wins Allegheny accumulated in each of the past two seasons. The Gators are off to their best start in conference play since the 2003 season when the team went 28-13 overall, 7-1 in the NCAC and entered the conference postseason tournament as the No. 2 seed.

Allegheny returns to action on Friday when the squad hosts Denison at 7 p.m. in the David V. Wise Center.
