Allegheny volleyball posts victory over Ohio WesleyanDELAWARE, Ohio -- The Allegheny College women's volleyball team improved to 11-11 overall, 7-2 in the North Coast Athletic Conference with its straight set victory (29-27, 25-21, 25-22) over Ohio Wesleyan. The Battling Bishops fall to 6-15 overall, 4-4 in the NCAC. Caitlin Solan (Acme, Pa./Geibel) paced the Gators offense with 11 kills while Caileigh Hughes (Newark, Ohio/Newark) added eight kills. Setter Amanda Bancroft (Centerville, Pa./Maplewood) chipped in 31 helpers. Defensively, Sarah Sckena (Fredericktown, Pa./New Bethlehem) posted 26 digs as Solan recorded 22 digs. Cat Van Wagner (Ontario, N.Y./Wayne) led the Gators with three blocks while Laura Gaudreau (Golden, Colo./Faith Christian), Hughes and Bancroft each added two blocks. The Gators return to action on on Friday when they host Denison in an NCAC contest. Allegheny looks to win its fourth straight contest and sixth in the last eight while remaining in the hunt for one of four berths to the conference tournament with seven conference matches yet to be played.
