Here is to your Health

As I walk my daily laps around the Wise Center track, I have a beautiful vantage point over campus and the hills that nestle Meadville and Allegheny College. The snow has come gently this year and rolls in over the mountains serene and silent on the outside. In the Wise Center background, I hear the constant hum of cardio machines, rattle of weight plates and dumbbells, joyful shrieks of competitive play, the ping of bat and racquet on ball, the pounding of a spike, the swoosh of the net – the activities of students blowing off steam, getting exercise and pursuing their competitive passions. While the fever pitch of our recreational ratatouille has dulled to a final exam lull and restful winter break, I am reminded to wish you and yours a very happy holiday and a healthy New Year. Thank you for supporting our students in all of their athletic endeavors and their pursuit of personal physical improvement. As this year closes and another looms, never fear, as the treadmill will soon begin again with practices, games, and the melee of competitive lessons; or the joy of the natural endorphin rush from good physical exercise. The Allegheny College Department of Athletics and Recreation wishes to remind you all of the positive benefits of exercise and encouragements in the New Year to re-commit to your own health.
