Depression
10% of the population suffers from depression in any given year, yet only 20% of those people seek help.
Signs & Symptoms
- Significantly depressed mood or irritable mood
- Sudden crying spells
- Substantial change in appetite, eating patterns, or weight
- Fatigue or energy loss
- Difficulty concentrating
- Inappropriate feelings of guilt or self-criticism
- Lack of sexual desire
- Suicidal thoughts, feelings, or behaviors
- Difficulty sleeping or increased sleep
- Loss of interest in previously enjoyed activities
What you can do if you think you may have depression…
- Reduce the use of drugs or alcohol
- Engage in a form of physical activity
- Eat a well-balanced diet
- Get an adequate amount of sleep
- Focus on positive aspects of your life
- Consult a physician
- Call the Counseling Center at 332-4368
