Assistant Professor of Biology. The biology department invites applications for a tenure-track position beginning August 2010. Candidates should have a Ph.D., a strong commitment to liberal arts education, and the ability to develop an active research program with undergraduates that uses bioinformatics to address problems in molecular evolution or microbial genetics. Teaching responsibilities include a team-taught introductory biology course, a sophomore-level investigative laboratory course, an upper-level course in molecular biology, a junior seminar in the candidate's area of expertise, and participation in college-wide first-year seminars that emphasize writing and speaking. The successful candidate will provide evidence of excellence in teaching, ongoing scholarship, and professional development. Excellent research and teaching facilities are available, as are start-up funds and opportunities to participate in an interdisciplinary biochemistry program.
