        The Biology Department invites applications for two full-time, renewable, non-tenure-track faculty positions beginning August 2009. Successful candidates should have a Ph.D., a strong commitment to liberal arts education, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and the ability to direct undergraduate research students in the candidate's area of expertise. For one of the positions we seek an individual with expertise in vertebrate physiology. The area of expertise for the second position is open, but candidates with the ability to teach an upper-level course in aquatic ecology, comparative anatomy, conservation biology, evolutionary biology, or microbiology are especially encouraged to apply. For both positions teaching responsibilities include a team-taught introductory biology course, a sophomore-level investigative laboratory course, an upper-level course and junior seminar in the candidate's area of expertise, and participation in college-wide first-year seminars that emphasize writing and speaking. This is a full-time senior level administrative position reporting to the Director of Athletics and Recreation. Primary responsibilities include:

•	Develop and administer upcoming redesign of athletics website
•	Coordinate photography needs for the athletics department
•	Compile statistics and file regular reports as required by the NCAA and conference office
•	Coordinate the production of athletics publications, including media guides, recruiting brochures, newsletters, game programs, and schedule cards
•	Coordinate team and department awards program
•	Coordinate special programs such as the Hall of Fame and Senior Student Recognition
•	Coordinate sports marketing and sponsorship programs
•	Supervise one professional and a full complement of student work study staff
•	Manage media relations for the department
•	Other related duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics and Recreation.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to implement our department and College mission and vision through positive leadership, collaborative skills and demonstrated desire to cultivate relationships; must have the ability to solve problems, make decisions, prioritize ongoing and new projects successfully.  Must possess excellent communication skills and strong managerial and interpersonal skills. Relevant BA or BS required, Masters preferred; 3-5 years experience of athletic administration strongly preferred.

The Office Manager supports the Residence Life program by coordinating office reception coverage, providing administrative and project support to the Residence Life staff, and managing various departmental projects.  The Office Manager reports to the Director of Residence Life and works as a team member with the Student Conduct Officer, Area Coordinators and the Division of Student Affairs.  

Additional duties include supervising the work-study office assistants, assisting in the annual room draw process, assisting with room assignments and room changes, coordinating the disbursements and collection of keys to residential facilities, maintaining budgets and ledgers of disbursements for office accounts, maintaining inventory of office supplies, scheduling appointments, and maintaining calendars of Residence Life staff.

Allegheny's Regional Advancement Officers are deployed geographically. Individuals who have worked in a regionally assigned development office and who have a passion for working "on the road" are preferred.

Candidates must have earned a Bachelor's degree and have five or more years of responsible, professional, non-profit fundraising (or related) experience. They must possess superior listening skills, strong oral and written communication skills, sophisticated interpersonal and relationship-building skills, and be literate in standard office software. Other essential qualifications include initiative and self-motivation. Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are critical. Significant travel and some weekend and evening responsibilities are required.
