How to Reapply for Financial Aid for 2008-2009
Dependent Students
1. FAFSA: Deadline March 15, 2008
Complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or renewal FAFSA with the U.S. Department of Education electronically at www.fafsa.ed.gov after January 1, 2008 but before March 15, 2008. The FAFSA serves as the official financial aid application for all federal, state and institutional need-based programs. Both the student and a parent must have their own Federal Student Aid PIN (www.pin.ed.gov) to sign the FAFSA electronically.
Pennsylvania residents must file the FAFSA by May 1, 2008 to be considered for a PHEAA state grant. (Some state grant programs may require supplemental applications.) Please note that Allegheny's deadline is March 15, 2008. Allegheny will not replace lost state grant funds due to late filing.
Supporting Documentation due in the Office of Financial Aid by April 1, 2008 (if verification is required)
If your parent is not required to file a federal income tax return for 2007, please request a Parent Statement of Non-Filing form available from the Office of Financial Aid. In lieu of a tax return, this form must be completed and mailed to the Office of Financial Aid by the April 1, 2008 due date.
Resources are limited and the deadlines stated above are very important. Only completed applications received by April 1, 2008 will be guaranteed consideration for funding. Verification of the required financial information will determine financial aid for the 2008-2009 academic year. Financial aid awards will be mailed to returning students early in June of 2008. If these restrictions pose a hardship or if you have any questions, please call the office for assistance at 1-800-835-7780, or e-mail fao@allegheny.edu.
