Entrance Loan Counseling

If you are a first-time borrower of the Federal Stafford Loan or Federal Perkins Loan, you are required to complete an Entrance Loan Counseling Session before the proceeds from the loans can be credited to your college account.

You may complete the on-line version of Entrance Loan Counseling to satisfy this requirement at Allegheny College. You will need to know which types of federal student loan you intend to borrow and complete the appropriate counseling session. You may be required to complete both sessions listed below.

If you have received notice from the Financial Aid Office that you are eligible for the Federal Perkins Loan, please complete the on-line Perkins Loan Entrance Counseling session.

If you have received notice from the Financial Aid Office that you are eligible for the Federal Stafford Loan or the Federal Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, please complete the on-line Stafford Loan Entrance Counseling session.

Exit Loan Counseling

Students who are graduating, or who plan to withdraw, take a leave-of-absence or drop below half-time enrollment are required to complete an Exit Loan Counseling Session.

You may complete the on-line version of Exit Loan Counseling to satisfy this requirement at Allegheny College. You will need to know which types of federal student loans you have borrowed during all years of attendance at Allegheny. You may be required to complete both sessions listed below.

If you borrowed under the Federal Perkins Loan Program, please complete the on-line Perkins Loan Exit Counseling session.

If you borrowed under the Federal Stafford Loan Program (either a Subsidized Stafford Loan or an Unsubsidized Stafford Loan, or both), please complete the on-line Stafford Loan Exit Counseling session.

The National Student Loan Data System is available for students to view their loan and grant records and obtain additional information about their loans, such as balances and loan holder information.

The SFA Ombudsman Office is available to help student borrowers informally resolve loan disputes and problems.
