Senior Class Gift
What is the Senior Class Gift?
This is a donation given by the Senior Class to the College's Annual Fund. Gifts made to the Annual Fund go directly into the operating budget of the College to underwrite ongoing and vital expenses of the College. These expenses run from scholarships to library books and facility renovations and more.
Why Should I Give?
Every member of the student body benefits directly from the philanthropic efforts of our alumni. Tuition only covers two-thirds of the actual cost of an Allegheny education. Each Annual Fund gift helps to make up the difference between for what students pay and what they receive. Each of these examples benefits from gifts to the Annual Fund:
...and basically, every activity that takes places under the name of Allegheny College. We have also dedicated the Senior Circle as a way for senior classes to be recognized for their gifts. Each year, classes will be recognized in the circle. The classes with record participation or dollars raised display special symbols to recognize these accomplishments. In a way, you are in competition with last year's graduating class!
What is the Annual Fund?
The Annual Fund is the cornerstone on which all College fundraising is based. It provides immediate support to programs throughout the College and is a major factor in creating the philanthropic mindset that is so important for Allegheny to continue to grow, prosper and rise amongst competitive institutions.
Participation in the Annual Fund is important due to its direct impact on the College. It's also important because various foundations and corporations will, in part, decide to give grants to the College based upon the percentage of alumni who donate to the Annual Fund. Therefore, the College's reputation is directly linked to the Annual Fund's success and, more importantly to you as a pending graduate, is connected to the strength of your degree as well.
How Do I Give?
When you matriculated at Allegheny, you made a $300 deposit. You can donate all or a portion of this amount to the Senior Class Gift. A gift of any size makes you a G.O.L.D. (Gators of the Last Decade) member.
