Each semester, a staff of approximately 20 to 25 students call thousands of Allegheny College alumni, friends and parents. This is an opportunity for students to serve as ambassadors of Allegheny and to gain valuable experience in communication and basic fundraising skills.
Each night, Sunday through Thursday, a group of these students makes calls from campus. Student callers are trained and supervised for the position and are asked to work at least 6 hours per week.
Students have the opportunity to compete for incentives and are rewarded based on their performance. Many students use their phonathon experience as a great reference for positions on campus, summer jobs and post-graduate employment.
