Hi! My name is Amanda McNeely, and I am a senior at Allegheny College. You hear all the time how your gift impacts the College - how every dollar makes a difference in the education being offered--so I wanted to take the time to tell you that IT DOES! I love my work study job with the Annual Fund both in the phonathon and the Development and Alumni Affairs Office.
I have worked as a caller in the Gator 2 Gator phonathon for the past two years, and I'm excited to start back up again for my third and final year. I enjoy talking with alumni and hearing about their Allegheny experiences. I find it rewarding to be a student fundraiser because it is my own way of giving back to the College while I am still in school. I am not only personally impacted every day by the generous gifts from our donors, but I also see how it impacts everyone else on campus as well.
I have had some of my best Allegheny moments while working during Reunion Weekends - especially the conversations I have had driving alumni around campus on golf carts! My favorite is connecting with Kappa Kappa Gamma members from the various reunion years. It is fun to watch classmates reunite and discover the changes on campus, changes that nonetheless stir up many memories and spark the telling of "remember when" stories. It is rewarding for me to see where Allegheny has taken them...it makes me excited for my future. I have no doubt that my hard work, too, will definitely pay off.
I guess I would just like to say "Thank you" to all the donors who support Allegheny. Without your generosity, I wouldn't be here. You've made my educational experience a reality - and for that I am forever grateful!
