Minor in Science, Health, and Society
NOTE: NO NEW STUDENTS WILL BE SIGNED INTO THE MINOR AFTER FALL OF 2009. ALL STUDENTS MUST COMPLETE THE CAPSTONE COURSE BY SPRING OF 2010. IT HAS BEEN DECIDED TO DISCONTINUE THIS MINOR.
There are several options for completing the minor:
Option A
Open to those majoring in Humanities and Social Science
- Take 2 of the following introductory science course sequences
- Biology 220 and 221
- Chemistry 110 and 112
- Physics 101 and 102 (or Physics 110 and 120)
- Take one upper-level elective listed below
- Communication Arts 365 Media and Cultural Theory (Pre-req, Comm Arts 120)
- History 380: Disease and Medicine in Modern History (Social Foundations)
- History 584 Doctors and Deviants (pre-requisite: Permission of Instructor)
- INTDS 315 History of Neuroscience INTDS [Has not been offered since Spring 2005]
- INTDS 306 Cultural Construction of Sexuality (Pre-req INTDS 207 or permission of instructor)
- Philosophy 310 Global Justice (Philosophy 140 or 210 or permission of instructor)
- Philosophy 395 Medical Ethics (Ethical Foundations)
- 84 hours of shadowing/service in a health related field
- Submission of Science, Health, and Society portfolio
- LS 550 NOTE: The last time this course will be offered is Spring 2010

Open to all students
