Course Requirements for the German Studies Minor
Take at least two of the following courses taught in German:
- German 280 Reading German Texts (or 245 or 265 taught in Cologne)
- German 305 Advanced German in a Cultural Context
- German 310 Advanced German in a Literary Context
- German 315 Advanced Language Practice in an Authentic Cultural Context (taught in Cologne)
- German 325 German Culture
- German 345 Special Topics in German Literature and Culture (taught in Cologne)
- German 350 Topics in German Literature
- German 360 Topics in German Culture
- German 440 Seminar in Literature
Take at least three of the following courses taught in English:
- Art 236 German Art from the Middle Ages to Today (taught in Cologne)
- Art 247 20th-Century Art: Images of the Avant-Garde
- FSHIS 201 Nuremburg Trials
- History 115 The Holocaust
- History 205 Europe in the Age of Dictatorship and Democracy, 1914-Present
- History 217 History of Modern Germany (taught in Cologne)
- History 310 Europe at the Turn of the Century, 1880-1917
- History 312 State and Society Under Communism and Fascism
- Political Science 351 Government and Politics of Western Europe
