J. Morgan Kuberry J. Morgan Kuberry
Pleasantville, Pennsylvania
Major: History, Theatre

J. Morgan Kuberry entered Allegheny with a promising combination of interests: history, Medievalism, the Classics and drama.

“I’ve always been interested in history, particularly Medievalism and Classics,” he says. “I was mildly interested in the theater before I came here, but now I’ve found a way to combine the two in a professional context, and as a result I’m more enthusiastic about both.

“Since coming to Allegheny I decided to combine scholarly research in history with the hands- on applications of theater, which has value in museum curatorships, theatrical design and historical consultation for documentaries, films and plays,” he explains.

A study in medieval costume design helped Morgan gain working knowledge of the field of design and improve his non-textual researching skills; an independent study in medieval French history helped Morgan become more resourceful.

“I wanted to…focus my degree toward areas not readily covered by the normal coursework,” he adds. “My professors helped me customize my education to fit my interests and to take charge of my own learning experience.”

Considering his take-charge attitude and focused determination, don’t be surprised if you see the name J. Morgan Kuberry on a list of film credits someday.
