Allegheny students benefit from the College's strong emphasis on quality faculty advising. Three advising modules taken in the freshman and sophomore years carry academic credit.
In addition to an academic faculty advisor, students intending to pursue the teaching preparation program have access to the Education Programs Liason, experienced in guiding students in their pursuit of teacher certification.
In addition to observing their professors at work within their own classrooms, Allegheny students have the opportunity to work alongside their professors in other educational settings. For example:
- Seminar Assistants aid professors in the conducting of classroom activities and projects for first-year students.
- A professor of music gives presentations and master classes for local elementary school students.
- A physics professor conducts planetarium shows for Crawford County citizens (preschoolers through senior citizens).
- A biochemistry class receives guidance on teaching and managing adolescents, then designs and presents a series of lessons to ninth and tenth grade students.
