Meadville, Pa. – Freshman women’s golfer Laura Hilger (Gibsonia / Pine-Richland) has been named to the 2007-08 Division III National Golf Coaches Association All-America Scholar Team.
A neuroscience major, Hilger was one of 402 women’s collegiate golfers recognized who posted a minimum 3.50 grade point average and competed in at least 50 percent of the team’s regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year.
The rookie had three top-10 finishes and posted season-bests at the Gannon Invitational where she carded a 161 (80 / 81) during the two-day tournament. Through 18 rounds, Hilger finished her freshman season with a stroke average of 86.89.
Over the course of the 2007-08 campaign, Hilger helped Allegheny capture five tournament titles, including a win at an entirely Division II Gannon Invitational, and finish with an additional four top-three finishes while competing at some of the toughest events throughout the region.
